FULLY COMMITTED

Devote – to commit yourself to, or allot or use something for, a particular activity, aim, or purpose, ie. “She devoted her whole life to the cause. Dedicate, offer, apply, assign, allocate, allot, give, lavish, heap, bestow, confer Farm animals decided to have breakfast. It was first thing in the morning, in the time before McDonald’s. They said cow you can supply the milk and chicken you can supply the eggs, and pig you can give us some sausage and some bacon and we can have the best breakfast ever! Woa! Kemosabe. Wait a minute homeboy, homeskillet, homeslice. For you breakfast just means a generous contribution, but for me it means a total commitment. I will have to lay down my life and die for this breakfast. Needless to say, the pig wasn’t willing to make that kind of commitment to the meal. And just like that pig wasn’t willing to make a total commitment, many of us, who call ourselves Christians, who show up for church, who put money in the plate, who even come to Sunday School, and Bible study, who may read their Bibles and may pray sometimes, but when it really comes down to it, they will readily admit that Christianity is a life of total commitment; a commitment that they are unwilling to commit to. What about you? Have you really considered how deeply you really want to get involved in this Christianity thing? Is this something you do because your parent makes you do it and as soon as you get grown, you’ll do your own thing? Is this something to do, because there’s nothing else going on Sunday Morning or Wednesday night? Maybe you’re coming because you seen this cute girl or boy and if they think you like church and love God the way they like church and love God then maybe they’ll consider you? Maybe you’d like to commit. Perhaps you know in your heart that this thing of serving the Lord has to be more than singing in the choir and serving on the board. You would like to find out what this thing is all about. You want to be devoted. You want to be all in. You want to be fully committed. You want to be able to say, For God I’ll live and for God I’ll die. You want to say, I am on the Battlefield for my Lord. And I promised Him that I would serve him until I die. Or we are soldiers in the army, we have to fight sometimes we have to cry. We have to hold up the blood stained banner. We have to hold it up until we die.
